Hello -- Am writing to you in a rather delirious state of being smitten by my 8 day old twins and total sleep deprivation.  I need help/support/advice re breastfeeding twins as much as possible (please don't try to talk me out of it just now).  My milk came in a little late, and the kids lost a bit more than 10% in the hospital.  I am supplementing just a little, mostly the girl.

Success stories especially appreciated!

Ps, just booked a lactation consultant, Ayelet Katznelson.

hi!

i'm definitely a success story. my two are still nursing (although it's just once in the morning now) at 20 months.  it's easy to talk yourself out of nursing in those early weeks.  it is so so hard, but it absolutely gets easier.  around 4 weeks, my two started nursing much better and i slept a tiny bit more and everything felt better.

it is absolutely difficult in the beginning, nursing, no sleep, new (two!) babies.  please email me at elana_gross@hotmail.com if i can help at all with advice or support or anything.  or email me and i'll send you my number!

hang in there!

I know it's a month after you posted, but I just saw your message and I thought you might like some more encouragement.  I also felt like I never stopped nursing at the beginning (plus one had a tongue tie which meant he nursed painfully for 45 minutes - 1 1/2 hours and I would still have to supplement).  But now they are still nursing 2x a day at 18 months and I couldn't be happier that we did it.  One thing that kept me going was the euphoria (I think it's chemical) that came over me in spite of the pain whenever they nursed.  I could be in a state of panic and self-pity, and as soon as they latched on I felt waves of love sweep over me.  I look back and I miss the long stretches of time that I had nursing with them.  So quickly they become very efficient and nursing can take 5 - 10 minutes.
